Mis-typing recipes

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kate @ 8:47 pm

I am trying a new recipe collection software, Big Oven, and for the most part I love keeping my recipes on the computer. It’s great when Mom calls *me* asking if I have Aunt C’s chocolate cake recipe, and I do!

Unfortunately copying and pasting isn’t always perfect. Rich asked me to make a batch of Alton Brown’s Granola Bars so I pasted the recipe into my software. For some reason it pasted the measurement type in the ingredient column. I.E. Quantity_1_, Measurement _Blank_, Ingredient _ounces rolled oats_.

Well, I went through and fixed them all but had one typo. Instead of 1 3/4 ounces of dark brown sugar I missed by one letter and put in 1 3/4 POUNDS dark brown sugar. No wonder it seemed like way too much and like it took way too long to melt. We ended up with a scary mass of oats, nuts, fruit, and sugar. I nibbled a piece that was loose on the top and it made my teeth hurt. Ow!

We may have to chisel it out of the pan. Or set it out for wild animals. Or just throw the whole thing out. It’s scary.
