Fromage et pomme

Being apple season, I decided it was time for one of my favorite treats - a “French picnic.” When I’ve travelled to France one of my favorite tricks was to take an apple and some of the pre-wrapped cheese wedges from the breakfast bar and stash them away for lunch. When hunger hits, find the nearest baguette and voila, my French picnic.

So my lunch today is a Lund’s baguette, Fromager d’Affinois (a double-cream Brie), and a honeycrisp apple. Tear open baguette, apply a liberal coating of brie, top with thin slices of apple, enjoy.

It’s a fairly balanced lunch if not a healthy one. And it’s one that always makes me feel like I’m on a mini-holiday even as I sit at work on a slow, rainy day.
