Some photos of my coop and setup (I really need to get hubby to take new ones!)
We are working on an addition to the coop to give them more outdoor space and more places to roost during the day. If I were to redo it, I’d make the bottom and the ramp easier to access as it’s a pain getting things in and out for cleaning. We may remodel a bit this fall while we add some insulation for winter. Backyard Chickens is a great resource for getting beginner’s questions answered.
I’m sure some people would still call my hens “caged” but since industry standards about about one square foot per bird and my two share 16 square feet on the ground, about 14 up (16 minus the opening for the ramp) and have regular bug hunting trips around the yard, I don’t think they would complain!
